Benefits of Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicines were the only medicines available for thousands of years.  In the U.S. in the last 60 years, pharmaceutical drugs have largely replaced herbal medicines, but people are beginning to realize that herbal medicines can have significant benefits.   Often herbs gently help the body return to health by restoring the natural innate processes of healthy physiology.

Traditionally, herbs have been used to enhance digestion.  Certain herbs get the digestive juices flowing.  When you eat after taking these herbs, your "digestive fire" gets a jump start and your food is broken down into nutrients that can be more easily absorbed into the body.

When there is poor digestion, the food does not get broken down so there are fewer nutrients available for absorption and "foreign" substances leak into the blood stream causing  inflammation in the body.  This can lead to inflammatory conditions such as allergies, arthritis and asthma.   Digestive herbs can encourage healthy digestion and the resolution of inflammatory conditions.
