Stress Relief and Improving Sleep
There are herbal therapies that can help relieve the effects of stress.  Many herbs soothe the nerves and brighten the spirit.  Herbs from around the world offer these healing qualities: chamomile, oat tea, cat nip, passion flower, gotu kola, holy basil, lavender, skull cap and lemon balm.  These herbs can be taken as capsules, tinctures or teas.

Herbs can relieve stress in other ways as well.  Some people find aromatherapy helpful--they infuse the air with essential oils from plants such as lavender, roses and bay.  Herbal oils can also be massaged into the skin.  Other people enjoy herbal infused baths or herbal foot soaks.

Taking herbal medicines may help restore deep quality sleep.  This process of improving sleep takes time and may involve lifestyle changes (such as cutting back on caffeine and alcohol).  It may require changing prescription medications.  With these efforts, sleep quality can often be restored; and improved sleep has a profound effect on a person's overall energy, well being and health.
